About the Prize Competition Verification Bureau
The Prize Competition Verification Bureau (PCVB) was established to improve transparency and trust in the UK prize competition sector.
Online competitions have grown rapidly in recent years, but consumers often have limited visibility over whether winners are genuine, how draws are conducted, and whether prizes are actually awarded. PCVB provides independent verification of competition providers and publishes the results on a public register.
Our aim is simple: to help consumers identify competition providers that operate fairly, transparently, and responsibly.
What We Do
PCVB independently reviews prize competition providers against the PCV Standard, a framework designed to assess transparency, prize fulfilment, and fair operating practices.
As part of our verification process we review areas such as:
• Evidence of genuine winners and prize fulfilment
• The integrity of the draw process
• Clarity of competition rules and terms
• Business identity and contactability
• Refund, cancellation, and complaint procedures
Providers that meet the standard are listed on the PCVB public register and may display the Verified Provider mark, which links to a live verification page.
Independence
PCVB operates as an independent verification body. Verification is based on the evidence provided and our review process — not on advertising or sponsorship.
Inclusion on the PCVB register does not imply endorsement of a competition provider, but confirms that the provider has demonstrated compliance with the PCV Standard at the time of review.
Verifications are subject to review and may be withdrawn if standards are no longer met.
Transparency for Consumers
PCVB maintains a public register where consumers can check whether a competition provider has been verified and when the most recent review took place.
The register also records:
